Iron Maiden is a band formed by Steve Harris (bass player) on the 25th of december 1975 (the official date) but actually is known as 1972 nonofficial band.
The name of Iron Maiden came from a moovie that Steve saw when he was young and is actually related to medieval ages torture device
Iron Maiden is well known for their very agressive album covers, a skull appears on almost every release exception (brave new world and run to the hills 2002 singles) and the 1979 demo where paul di'anno appears
The first vocal was paul di'anno, the band released two albums (in my opinion the greatest) Iron Maiden and Killers.Those albums were never really appreciated because of the punk wave in London and the NWOBHM was never a basic wave.
The appearence of Bruce Dickinson had a really strong impact in the heavy metal scene, with the release of The Number Of The Beast (the very well known)
'Till 1994 Bruce rocked the heavy metal scene....but than he started a solo project
In 1999 he came back to Iron Maiden and the Brave New World album was the best seller of the year and won an Igor Novello prize
Iron Maiden will always be a real beast in the heavy metal scene and nothing can stop them
If you wanna try some Maiden music try some songs like : Run To The Hills, The Number Of The Beast, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Flight Of Icarus, Fear Of The Dark, Brave New World or Ghost Of The Navigator.You'll see that the first two albums are the greatest and there are also some covers like Massacre from Thin Lizzy or King of Twilight from Nektar that are realy ok.
Just try to remember that Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are in a non stoping fight for the best heavy metal band (not the artists but the fans) Well Iron Maiden is my soul band but Judas Priest is my favourite band....I think i'll vote for Priest.....I'm just doing it for Halford
Anywho Iron Maiden is surely the greatest NWOBHM band in the history of metal music and will always be.
