Judas Priest has many years that are related to their creation.A date is the late of 1967 when Al Atkins made the band.Other say that only in 69' was called Judas Priest when Ian Hill and KK Downing came at the horizon.
The name of "Judas Priest" is inspired from a Bob Dylan song called The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest
Their first release was in 71' but actually their first album was only in 74' an album titled Rocka Rolla...actually is really rock n' roll
Sad Wings of Destiny 86' is one of the greatest ballad capodopera in the history of heavy metal.As Sebastian Bach and Ian Gillan would say "I cannot see a world of heavy metal without Judas Priest"
Years passed and Judas Priest suffered transformation, Rob Halford trying to express his homosexuality invented the Heavy Metal Leather style....also met in Hair Metal , Black Metal , Extreme , Goth and other.
They created a hard rock religion out of screaming guitars while nobody gave a chance to the young boys of Birmingham
Even if they passed through hard times : like when the trial begin because of the suicide of the two young Judas Priest fans (i never acused those two kids, Judas Priest just has that stuff that calls you) , or when Rob Halford took painkillers trying to suicide, the guys made it and after 40 years of existence they still rock between us.
Some sugestion in case you want to try Judas Priest : Dream Deceiver , Victim Of Changes , Diamonds And Rust (Joan Baez cover) , Breaking The Law , Metal Gods , You've Got Another Thing Comin' , Painkiller , Ram It Down , Run Of The Mill...etc and then you'll like it all.
Just remember if you wear leather pants or clothes....you're wearing because Rob Halford introduced them in the metal music
